Disappointment – Let It Make You Not Break You

disappointment

I have yet to meet someone who has never experienced disappointments.  It is as common as the common cold and like a cold if we aren’t careful to recognize the first initial signs it can get worse.

Have you ever really looked at how you respond, deal or handle disappointments in your life?

Disappointment is when things don’t turn out the way we had expected them to and depending on how we respond they can either make US or Break US.

Disappointments can BREAK YOU when:

  1. Your happiness is solely dependent upon what’s happening in our life.  This a sure way to become angry, bitter and depressed. Living your life from this place is not really living. It is keeping you bound and absolutely not the kind of life that Christ went to the cross and died to give you.
  1. When God is not the centre of your JOY.
(Again, a sure way to become angry, bitter and depressed.)
  2. When you think small.
Seeing only a few single men at church can be discouraging but this does not stop God from providing you with a mate. Nothing is impossible with God. When we take the limits off of our mind our vision will expand.

Disappointments can MAKE YOU when:

  1. You give your hurt feelings to God in prayer.
The best counsellor/healer is God himself. When we make a practise of going to Him in prayer about everything He will give us the grace needed to overcome every disappointment. He says in His Word to cast our cares upon Him because He cares for us. Pillows are great to cry on but God is greater….give Him your tears and He will turn your mourning into dancing.
  2.  You don’t give up.
Although we may at times feel like giving up it’s not the answer. Allow yourself to experience the feelings that come with disappointment but don’t stay there for too long. There are greater things in store for you and you will get them when you choose to keep going…even if you have a limp.
  3. You Remain Optimistic
Just because it didn’t work out this time doesn’t mean it never will. Sometimes things don’t work out because it’s just the wrong time. Trust God’s timing in all things and stay focused doing the things you love.”You Can Bend….But Don’t Break!”
