What is cheating?
Cheating is a dishonest act.
Great relationships are built on trust. If he/she has to hide e-mails, text messages or go into another room to talk there may be some “high-tech cheating” going on. If this continues, sooner or later this relationship will come to a screeching halt. There is absolutely no way a strong foundation can be built when dishonesty is at it’s core.
Did you know that having sex before marriage is cheating on God?
God is looking for faithful men and women who will remain loyal to Him.
Having sex before marriage is not God’s perfect will concerning you.
Cheating is a selfish act.
While in the moment, he/she only thinks about themselves and not how their actions will negatively affect the person they are with. If you want to have a happy and healthy marriage one day, you will have to learn how to put your selfish needs aside and delay gratification. Something that I’m sure you are all learning to do right now as a Christian. You are choosing to wait until your wedding night before letting it all hang out.
Look, if you’re the “MUST HAVE SEX MAN/WOMAN” I describe in my book, who will go out of their way to get their selfish needs met even if they’re in a relationship, my advice is simple: STAY SINGLE until you’ve come to a place of maturity and are ready to abstain until your wedding night.
Cheating is a coward act.
If cheating is your way of giving the person you’re with a hint that you’re not happy in the relationship, this is a coward act. Man up, woman up and let him/her know what you feel is missing from the relationship.
If you feel that you cannot be faithful to a person you’re with, my advice is to be honest with yourself and follow the “SRW Signal #10 – Take The Nearest Exit”. (Referring to a dating or courting situation only here).
Cheating, cheats you out of your blessing.
Do you remember how Esau sold his birthright? He chose to gratify his belly instead of holding on to his birthright. Well, in doing so he cheated himself out of the blessings that came with it.
Have you ever cheated yourself out of a blessing? Lost a special guy/girl because you gave in to temptation?
God does not want you to miss out on your blessings because you don’t know how to control yourself or how to communicate your feelings and thoughts to the person you are in a relationship with. Deal with the real issues that are at the root of cheating like: frustration, impatience, anger, insecurity.
Marriage Prep: If you desire marriage, it is a higher call. As a single learn to be faithful to your relationship with God allow him to heal you from any unresolved emotions you may be struggling with. This way in marriage you can be a faithful and loyal wife/husband.
Here are a few scriptures to meditate on:
“Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well.“ (Proverbs 5:15)
“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” (Philippians 2:2-4)
Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions.
Watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you.
Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust. (Proverbs 4:25-27)
